New wineskins

I recently asked God for wisdom in leading those around me into a deeper relationship with Jesus. How can I most effectively impact those around me? Many of them are saved, many of them go to church.
Jesus said, “And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine will burst the wineskins and be spilled, and the wineskins will be ruined.” (Luke 5:37) Jesus was responding to the old wineskins of scribes and Pharisees who had just questioned His association with sinners and tax collectors. Filling the old wineskins with new wine would cause them to burst and the wineskins would be ruined. Even today some still live under the old covenant, believing that access to the Kingdom of God can be attained by human effort. These old wineskins will burst if we fill them up with new wine. Jesus also added, “And no one, having drunk old wine, immediately desires new; for he says, “The old is better.”" (Luke 5:39) These old wineskins need some time, they’re fond of the old wine and need to come to the realization that it’s old. We’re not going to convince them to drink the new wine. And if we just fill them up with it, they’re going to burst and be ruined.“But new wine must be put into new wineskins, and both are preserved” (Luke 5:38) We need to find new wineskins (the sinners and tax collectors) to fill up with the new wine. Jesus knew he would be most effective by reaching “those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.” (Luke 5:31-32)
God loves both the new wineskins and the old, but the old wineskins are hard to change, Jesus warned the old wineskins that “Assuredly, I say to you that tax collectors and harlots enter the kingdom of God before you.” (Mat 21:31) God has a plan to redeem the old wine skins. Paul revealed the strategy for the old wineskins when (talking about the Jews), “provoke to jealousy those who are my flesh and save some of them.” (Rom 11:14). The Jews clung to the old covenant brought to them by Moses, preferring the old wine, but today we still have many believers who cling to the old covenant - these we need to provoke to Jealousy. When the old wineskins see the tax collectors and harlots entering the kingdom of heaven ahead of them, when they see new wineskins filled with new wine, giving glory to the Lord Most High they will be provoked to jealousy and seek the Kingdom of God just like Nicodemus who sought Jesus by night.
We need to be careful with how we use our time, and like Jesus we need to move our attention to the new wineskins, and through the new wineskins we will be able to reach the old, “redeeming the time, because the days are evil” (Eph 5:16)
“lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!” (John 4:35) The old wineskins will find their way, only continue to pray and be ready to accept them with loving arms.
Father, forgive me for patching old garments with new cloth, for trying to pour new wine into old wineskins. Help me to reedeem the time, send me out as one of your workers into the harvest field, let me overflow with new wine able to provide in abundance for the new wineskins.

Marinating

This is a wonderful CD. Todd is so well acquainted with the presence of God and longs for others to jump in the river. I love the term, “pickling in the presence.” This CD is superb and ushers in the presence of God. The ingredients for marinating: prayer, new wine, fire, Holy Spirit, soaking… I don’t recall all the ingredients. This CD is fabulous - just don’t “drink” and drive… -

Renew your strength in 2005

Another very encouraging prophecy for 2005 from Patricia King. Soaking is a very important part of what we need to do this year. Todd Bentley said that if there’s one thing he’d like to teach God’s people, and that is to soak.
As we draw near to Him and wait, with expectation, for a renewal of strength and supernatural empowerment, an entire new level of grace will be experienced. Everything will begin to feel easy.
